Strong Finish Keeps Women's Swim Humming

Meet Results
BRIDGEWATER, Mass.—Gordon Women's Swimming kept its win streak going with a 135-127 win at Bridgewater State on Saturday afternoon. It came down to the final race, where Gordon's 'A' team took home gold in the 200-Yard Freestyle relay to preserve the win. The Bears held off the Fighting Scots in the men's meet, 142-122.

The evenly matched meet went back and forth all afternoon, but Gordon opened the day with first and third in the 200-Yard Medley relay. Nicole St. Martin (Westport, Mass.) extended the Gordon lead in the 1,000 Yard Free, finishing a full minute ahead of the next best racer.

After Bridgewater took the top spot in the 200 Free, Alexa Bragg (Trumbull, Conn.) got her first individual win of the day in the 50 Back with a narrow finish over teammate Alex Hall (Boca Raton, Fla.).

The Bears took each of the next two women's events, but Megan David (Kingston, R.I.) kept the Scots ahead with a top finish in the 50 Free. David just touched the wall before BSU's Nicole Moneghan to gain the nine points. David made it two events in a row just a few moments later with another close finish in the 100 Free.

Bragg and St. Martin both took home second individual victories to keep the pressure on the Bears entering the final race. In the last relay, Gordon's top squad bested the Bears by just a second to clinch the victory.

On the men's side, Dean Drukker (Bedford, N.H.) got the Scots on the board with a full length win over Kyle Medeiros from Bridgewater in the 200 Free. Josh Florez (West Hartford, Conn.) also garnered nine points with a quick finish in the 50-Yard Breaststroke. The senior later took home a fairly easy win in the 100-Yard Breast.

Dan Fauber (Granbury, Texas) notched his status quo three individual wins on the day. The storied junior swimmer won the 100 Fly, 100 Back and 50 Fly.

Gordon claw its way out of an early hole as Bridgewater's 'A' and 'B' units grabbed the top two spots in the final relay of the day before Gordon's top unit could touch the wall.

The Fighting Scots are off for two weeks before heading up to New London, N.H. to take on Colby-Sawyer.
