Meet ResultsWENHAM, Mass.—Gordon Swim split its first home meet of the season against Regis College. The Fighting Scots women handled the Pride with a 155-98 victory, while Regis came up with a win on the men's side, 141-109. The Gordon women improve to 2-1 this season after taking second at a tri-meet last Saturday.
Â
The Gordon women set the early tone with a first and third-place finish in the 400-Yard Medley Relay. Gordon's 'A' team beat Regis' tops squad by three seconds to take 11 points in the very first event.
Â
Emily Williams (Peabody, Mass.) took home the 1,000-Yard Free, besting teammate Anne Harris (Harwich Port, Mass.) by two seconds. Gordon took the top three spots in the event to grow its lead. Caris Lyons (Orrville, Ohio) and Alexa Bragg (Trumbull, Conn.) each won the next two events in the 200 Free and 50 Back respectively.
Â
Regis got back on the board in the 50-Yard Breaststroke when Lucia Llorente-Ruiz (Newton, Mass.) edged Gordon's Leah Snavely by a third of a second in a time of 35.92. That momentum would be short lived however, as the Emily and Megan David (North Kingston, R.I.) grabbed gold in the next two events to put the Scots up by a large margin.
Â
Megan David won her second event of the day in the 100-Yard Free with a time of 58.82 and Bragg beat Regis' Molly Belles in the 100 Back by a mere second.
Â
Nicole St. Martin (Westport, Mass.) took her usual place atop the podium in the 500-Yard Free in a time of 5:44 and Emily David closed out Gordon's big win with a victory in the 50-Yard Butterfly.
Â
Regis won the final relay of the afternoon in the 200-Yard Free with a time of 1:49.29.
Â
The Pride evened the score in the men's event with a comfortable win over the Fighting Scots.
Â
Regis got on the board right away with an eight-second win in the 400-Yard Medley and a sound win by Joshua Unas (Santa Clarita, Calif.) in the lengthy 1,000-yard race.
Â
Dan Fauber (Granbury, Texas) got Gordon in the winner's circle with a two-second win in the 200-Yard Free over Cassidy Bastianelli (Newton, Mass.). Regis came right back when Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.) served up a one-second win in the 50-Yard Backstroke, tapping the wall with 27.96 on the clock.
Â
Joshua Florez (West Hartford, Conn.) won two races for Gordon in both breaststroke events and Fauber took care of the 200-Yard IM. It was all Regis otherwise, as five Pride athletes found gold in individual events.
Â
Regis hosts St. Joseph's of Maine next Saturday at 11 a.m. Only the Gordon women are in action next weekend, when they travel to Springfield to take on Western New England at noon.Â
