Scots Fall to Non-Conference Swarthmore, 16-8

Playing the final matchup of their West Coast spring break tour, the Fighting Scots were downed by non-conference Swarthmore College, 16-8, to move to 3-4 overall on the season.

Junior Michael Utz (Rochester, N.Y.) led the Scots' attack with three goals and one assist while junior Ryan Utz (Rochester, N.Y.) contributed two goals, one helper, senior Matt Dantona (Syosset, N.Y.) added a pair of tallies, and senior Jordan Heckelmann (Colorado Springs, Colo.) netted one and dished two. Keepers Cody Greenwald (Jr./Albany, N.Y.) and Brian Lane (Sr./Rochester, N.Y.) combined for nine saves in the effort.

Swarthmore (3-1), which won its third straight game, scored eight goals in each half to command the eight-point win. Ian Lukaszewicz recorded five points on four goals and one assist, while Andrew Preiser had one goal and four helpers. Senior Darrel Hunter led the Garnet defense with four caused turnovers and three ground balls, and sophomore Cole Fox made 16 saves to record his second victory in as many starts.
 

Gordon will return home to face MIT on the road on Thursday, March 19 at 4:00 p.m. The Garnet will look to extend their winning streak to four games when they face Whittier on Friday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m.
