Fighting Scots Knockdown Seahawks to Stay Unbeaten

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Gordon Men's Tennis ran its win streak to seven matches by blanking host Salve Regina in the Commonwealth Coast Conference debut for both teams. Zach Hall (Sugar Land, Texas) and Mason Casady (Santa Barbara, Calif.) each won singles matches without dropping a game to finish off the Seahawks in a match played to decision.

Michael D'Antuono (Mapleville, R.I.) and Peter Godwin (Manchester, Conn.) teamed up for Gordon's first point of the day. The freshmen duo cruised past Kevin Brocks and Matthew Carroll 8-0 at second doubles. Hall and Casady weren't far behind at the top flight, beating Donovan Gangewere and Jack Lawlor 8-2 as well. The Seahawks made things interesting at the third doubles flight, but Joe Daugherty (Norfolk, Va.) and James Hawn (Southborough, Mass.) fought through for an 8-6 win.

With a commanding 3-0 lead in hand, Gordon's top two singles flights ended the match quickly with 6-0, 6-0 victories. D'Antuono, Hawn and Daugherty were all leading in the second sets when the match was ruled over.

Gordon returns to the court on Tuesday with a non-conference matchup at Salem State.
