FRAMINGHAM, Mass.- Gordon Men's Soccer snapped a two-match losing streak on Tuesday afternoon with a 1-0 win at Framingham State. Senior
Evan Crocker (Akron, Ohio) scored in the 35
th minute and that was all the Fighting Scots needed to secure the victory.
Â
The game's lone tally came late in the first half when Crocker won a 50/50 in his offensive zone which created a breakaway. Freshman
Josh Beveridge (Anchorage, Alaska) collected the ball and threaded a pass on the ground through the middle of the field. Crocker beat Rams keeper, junior Josh Arno (Natick, Mass.) low to his left side and planted the ball in the opposite corner of the net.
Â
The Rams had an opportunity to tie the contest in the last minute but shots by both junior Mitch Osgood (Salem, Mass.) and Arno were blocked.
Â
Arno made five saves in net for the Rams while junior
Josh Spoonhour (Greencastle, Pa.) made six saves in net for the Scots.
Â
Gordon outshot the Rams 20 to 12 while taking 6 corner kicks to the Rams 2.
Â
Gordon returns to action on Saturday, September 19
th when they host Salve Regina. The Rams will open up MASCAC play on the same day when they travel to Fitchburg State.
