WENHAM, Mass.—Endicott broke open a close game in the second half and never let Gordon Men's Basketball get into any sort of offensive rhythm in a 75-60 Gulls win. The Scots struggled from the floor for the second straight game and Endicott capitalized on second-chance opportunities to move into the top spot in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Four different Endicott starters scored at least two points as a part of a 9-3 start, but Gordon struck back with two three-point plays to knot things up. After a slow start, Gordon began to pick up steam in the middle of the half and eventually took a four-point lead on an Eric Demers (W. Wareham, Mass.) layup with just under eight to go.
However, Endicott (9-6) countered back with a 13-2 run and much of it coming from its bench. Gordon was able to come back with six straight points to close the gap to one and had an opportunity to take a late lead. The Scots turned the ball over and DaQuan Sampson (Germantown, Md.) was fouled with .5 seconds in the half to expand Endicott's lead to 36-33 at the break.
Gordon (7-8) battled to tied the game at 38 early in the second half when the Gulls got warm from the outside. After making just one of 13 opportunities from deep in the first half, Endicott made five of its first six three-point attempts in the second to put Gordon down big. The Scots were never able to get within a possession for the final 15 minutes of the game.
For the Foes- Max Motroni (W. Warwick, R.I.) led the Gulls with 15 points, including two pivotal threes in the second half.
- Gordon held Kamahl Walker (Worcester, Mass.) to his second lowest output of the season with 12 points, but the junior guard had four assists and five steals to help in other areas.
- Junior Chris Lipscomb (West Springfield, Mass.) had his best game in an Endicott uniform. The guard's best scoring game coming into the day was five points at Wentworth and Lipscomb far past that mark with 13 on 6-of-8 shooting.
- Sampson finished with 11 points.
For the Scots- Demers was one of only two Scots in double-figure scoring as the freshman put up 15 points in a team-high 29 minutes.
- Sam Johnson (Chatham, Mass.) had 10 points and 10 rebounds, but committed seven turnovers.
- Gordon had its lowest positive rebound margin in conference play for the seconds straight game, +2.
