NEWPORT, R.I.—Gordon Women's Soccer kept pace in the middle of the Commonwealth Coast Conference table with a scoreless draw against Salve Regina on Wednesday. The Hawks entered the day a half-game ahead of the Fighting Scots for fifth place and remained that way with only two games to play on the conference slate.
Both teams had ample chances to put goals on the board during the 110-minute affair, but keepers Kali Denty (Marshfield, Mass.) and Carly Pala (Milford, Conn.) stopped everything that came their way. The Seahawks entered the day with one of the stingiest defenses in the CCC and showed why with 11 saves. Denty continued her bid for earning some postseason hardware with 14 saves on the day.
Devin Lacroix (Candia, N.H.) led the Scots with four attempts on frame, including a nice ball from just outside the 18 that was punched away by Pala.
Gordon (6-7-2) remains in control of the sixth seed in the upcoming CCC tourney and has a pivotal matchup at Curry on Friday. The Colonels currently sit seventh in the standings.
