WENHAM, Mass.—Wheaton flexed its offensive might, leading from cover to cover and handing Gordon Women's Lacrosse at 18-5 in the season opener for both schools. Two Lyons notched hat-tricks on the day, while Gordon's
Olivia McCarrick (Millersville, Md.) and
Bailey Grinnell (S. Hamilton, Mass.) had two goals apiece.

The Lyons dominated possession on the first half, putting 16 shots on goal and 26 in total. Pressuring the Gordon defense off of draw controls seemed to work for the visitors, as they managed to sneak through the heart of the Scot defense on more than one occasion in the opening half.

Jessica Castelline (Concord, Mass.) got the Scots on the board in the 14
th minute with an unassisted strike.
Wheaton went on another extended run that lasted three minutes, scoring four times during that span. Jenna Tewksbury (Concord, N.H.) put home her second goal of the day during the stretch.
Gordon rookie McCarrick made it an 11-2 game with her first collegiate goal, but the Lyons took a 12-2 lead into the break.
The second half played more even as the Scots settled down in their defensive half, but the Lyons scored the first three goals of the final period and never looked back.
Grinnell scored back-to-back goals in the 39
th and 41
st minutes, while McCarrick added her second with just over seven minutes to go in regulation.
