WENHAM, Mass.—MIT Women's Lacrosse put together two big halves to hand Gordon its fifth straight loss to begin the season, 16-4. The Engineers led 7-1 at the break and finished off the Scots with a busy start to the second half. MIT senior Kira Schott (New Canaan, Conn.) scored twice in the second half to become the third player in program history to notch 200 career points.
Gordon falls to 0-5 this season, while the Engineers improve to 3-2 and 2-0 against the Commonwealth Coast Conference this year.
The Engineers built up a seven-goal lead over the first 27 minutes of the first half, as Hannah Levy (Yardley, Pa.) tallied four goals during that span. First-year Cecilia McCormick (Islip, N.Y.) contributed the other three first-half goals for the Engineers.
Gordon's lone goal of the opening half came off the stick of
Jessica Castelline (Concord, Mass.).
MIT scored the first four goals of the second half, including McCormick's fourth and fifth strikes to open up a 10-goal advantage with 20 to play.
Castelline added two more goals after the game was out of reach and
Bailey Grinnell (S. Hamilton, Mass.) added her 11
th of the season in the closing minutes.
MIT held a 27-12 advantage in shots for the game and only two of its attempts were not on frame.
Jackie Kiernan (Lexington, Mass.) made nine saves in defeat. Eva Boal (Princeton Junction, N.J.) made four saves to record her third win of the season.
