WORCESTER, Mass.—Gordon Men's Tennis won its eight straight match on Wednesday, beating Division I opponent Holy Cross 4-3 at the Sinnott Family Tennis Center. Zach Hall (Sugar Land, Texas), Mason Casady (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Nate Lookwhy (Westborough, Mass.) all went undefeated on the day to help the Scots edge out the Crusaders.
Gordon (12-2) was led by its top three players who had their hands in all five of the team's individual wins on the afternoon. Hall and Casady teamed up for a 7-5 win at first doubles, while also registering identical 6-1, 6-2 wins at the top two singles flights. Lookwhy also finished off a lopsided singles win at 6-2, 6-2, while adding a doubles point with teammate Peter Godwin (Manchester, Conn.) at second dubs.
Holy Cross took the bottom three singles points, including a three-setter by Jimmy Ye (Boston, Mass.).
Only one point was received for doubles actions per Division I scoring.
Gordon has a big home matchup on Saturday with Roger Williams coming to town for a noon start. The Hawks have a half-game lead on Gordon atop the Commonwealth Coast Conference standings at 4-0. The Scots currently sit at 3-0.
