WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Salve Regina in Commonwealth Coast Conference action and for Senior Day as they only allowed six shots in their 1-0 win.
The teams traded possession back and forth for most of the first half. The Fighting Scots (8-4-2, 5-2-1 CCC) had a scoring opportunity in the 17
th minute as
Kay Silveira's shot was on target, but was saved by Carly Pala. The Seahawks (5-9-3, 2-4-2 CCC)Â held them to three more shots the rest of the half including
Lexi Potter's shot in the 32
nd minute that was saved by Pala. Abby McMackin put a shot on goal in the 43
rd minute that was saved by
Kali Denty to make it a 0-0 game at halftime.
In the second half, Gordon put the pressure on as they attempted three shots in the first seven minutes of the half. That set up
Lexi Potter's goal in the 55
th minute as she received a long pass from
Ashton Barkey and put it past the keeper. The Fighting Scots dominated possession the rest of the way as they held a 5-1 shot advantage in the last 35 minutes of action. The Seahawks' only shot of the second half came with two minutes remaining as Lea Adams' line drive shot was stopped with a diving save by Denty.
Gordon next hosts Western New England in CCC play to close out the regular season Oct. 24 at 3 p.m.
