HENNIKER, N.H. — Gordon traveled to take on New England College in non-conference action and
Natalie Adamez recorded her second hat-trick of the year in Gordon's 5-3 victory.
The game was originally played Sept. 5, but was suspended due to lighting in the 42
nd minute with Gordon leading 4-2.
The Fighting Scots (3-6) got started quickly on offense as they put three shots on goal in the first ten minutes of the game. The Pilgrims (4-8) also had three shots with two of them being on goal in that same time span. Gordon kept up the pressure as Adamez attempted two more shots in the next three minutes with one going wide of the goal and one being blocked.
Mackenzie Gray added two more shots with one being saved by Michaela Clark in the 15
th minute.
Adamez put the Fighting Scots on the board in the 18
th minute as she battled through defenders to put the ball in the bottom right corner of the net. New England College tied the game in the 26
th minute with a goal by Brittany Tierney. Adamez responded for Gordon as she scored two goals in a three-minute span to make it a 3-1 game in the 33
rd minute. The Pilgrims attempted two shots in the last ten seconds of the half with one being blocked and one going wide of the goal.
In the second half, New England College cut the deficit to one with a goal by Krissie Borreo in the 40
th minute. The Fighting Scots quickly upped the pressure and received three penalty corners in the 40
th minute by
Sabrina Jandreau to set up a goal by
Paige Blake in the 41
st minute. The game was suspended due to lightning one minute later.
When play resumed, the Pilgrims went on the offensive and put five shots on goal in a span of six minutes. That led to another goal by Tierney in the 50
th minute to cut the lead down to one goal. Another penalty corner by Jandreau set up
Emily Allcroft in the circle before she was fouled to set up a penalty stroke. Allcroft converted to make it a 5-3 game with 14 minutes left. Emilia Battista's shot in the 60
th minute was saved by
Julia Altman to keep the lead at two goals. The Pilgrims received two penalty corners in the 62
nd minute, but were held without a shot. They were only able to attempt one more shot the rest of the game in the 69
th minute which went wide to seal the win for Gordon.
Adamez now has ten goals on the season and currently is tied for fourth in the CCC in goals scored.
The Fighting Scots next host Salve Regina in CCC play Oct. 7 at 12 p.m.
