Scots Fall to Gulls in CCC Action

BEVERLY, Mass. — Gordon traveled to face Endicott in Commonwealth Coast Conference play and allowed 11 shots on goal in its 5-2 defeat.

The Gulls (6-3-1, 3-0-1 CCC) got a quick start on offense as Hannah Pesci attempted a shot in the second minute of the game that was saved by Kali Denty. They put another shot on goal in the eighth minute. They continued to dominate possession as their shot in the 13th minute went wide, but the Fighting Scots (4-4-2, 1-2-1 CCC) were called for a handball in the box to set up a penalty kick. Mary Verneris converted the kick to give Endicott a 1-0 lead. Gordon put two shots on goal in the 22nd minute with both being saved by Shelby Elwell. The Gulls responded by only allowing one shot in next 28 minutes. They scored their second goal in the 39th minute with a penalty kick by Verneris that was caused by another handball by the Fighting Scots.

In the second half, Lexi Potter put Gordon on the board less than a minute into the half. Endicott responded in the 51st minute as Sharlotte Pernice scored to make it a 3-1 game. Chandlier Stier attempted two shots in the next 12 minutes with being on goal. Rachel Hanna scored for the Gulls in the 63rd minute to give them a three-goal lead. The Fighting Scots upped the pressure in the 65th minute as Ashton Barkey's shot was blocked and they received two corner kicks in a minute span to set up Kay Silveira's goal in the 67th minute off a pass from Kasey Hayes. Hayes attempted a corner kick in the 68th minute that led to a header by Silveira and a shot by Potter that were both blocked. Gordon's next four shots went wide of the net. Pesci scored Endicott's fifth goal in the 83rd minute. Devin Lacroix's shot in the 88th minute was saved by Elwell and her shot in the 89th minute hit the crossbar to seal the win for the Gulls.

Denty recorded six saves and faced 20 shots.
