BOSTON — Gordon traveled to play Emerson in its 2017-18 season opener and shot 37.9 percent from the floor in its 90-71 loss.
The Lions (1-0) started of the game on an 8-3 run. They stretched their lead to nine points with a 13-9 run to close out the first quarter. The Fighting Scots (0-1) started off the second quarter by scoring eight straight points to cut the deficit to three points. They tied the game by outscoring Emerson 12-9 in the next three minutes of action. The Lions closed out the half with a 6-5 run to make it a 38-37 game at halftime.
In the second half, Emerson scored 29 points in the 3
rd quarter to take a 12-point lead. Gordon cut the lead to 11 with 7:42 left in the game, but the Lions closed out the game with a 22-14 run to seal the win.
Meghan Foley scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Abby Vampatella scored 12 points and pulled in five rebounds.
Alisha Henderson scored ten points and dished out a team-high four assists.
The Fighting Scots will next host the Gordon Classic Nov. 17-18. They will take on Manhattanville Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. in their first game of the classic.
