WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Manhattanville in its first game of the Gordon Classic and shot 25.9 percent from the field in its 80-45 loss.
The Valiants (1-0) outscored the Fighting Scots (0-2) 15-4 in the first quarter for an early 11-point lead. Gordon cut the lead to eight by scoring 15 points to 12 points for Manhattanville in the second quarter.
In the second half, the Valiants stretched the lead to 21 points with an 18-5 to start the third quarter. They outscored the Fighting Scots 35-21 the rest of the way to seal the win.
Alisha Henderson led the team with 11 points.
Jess Ryan scored nine points with one rebound and one assist.
Abby Vampatella led the team with ten rebounds and also had six points, three steals, two assists, and one block.
Gordon next plays Elms tomorrow Nov. 17 in its second game of the Gordon Classic at 3 p.m. Elms lost 56-42 to Rhode Island College in its first game of the Gordon Classic.
