Gulls Down Scots in CCC Championship Game

BEVERLY, Mass. — No. 2 seed Gordon traveled to take on No. 1 seed Endicott in the CCC Men's Soccer Tournament Finals and allowed 18 shots in its 1-0 loss in overtime.

Possession was even between the two teams in the first half as the Fighting Scots (13-6-1) attempted seven shots with none being on goal. The Gulls (13-4-3) attempted six shots with one shot hitting the cross bar. Both teams had scoring opportunities in the last five minutes of the half. Josh Beveridge's shot was blocked in the 43rd minute while Conner Couchot's header with ten second left in the half went wide to keep the game at 0-0 entering halftime.

In the second half, both teams combined for seven shots on goal. Two of those scoring opportunities came in the 58th minute for Gordon as Josh Cochran and Ian Burkhart put shots on target that were saved by Camden Stockdale. Endicott held an 8-3 shot advantage the rest of the half, including Tyler Johnson's shot with five seconds left that went high to send the game to overtime.

The Fighting Scots got the first shot off in overtime as Matt Chartier's shot in the 93rd minute went wide of the net. Wesley Sprague was injured in the 94th minute and was replaced by Caleb Chang. Jesse Martinez's shot in the 96th minute was saved by Chang to keep the game at 0-0. The Gulls won the game with 15 seconds left in the first overtime period as Dario Neukom received a pass from Diego Maillo and put the ball in the left hand bottom corner of the net.

Six seniors played their final game for Gordon. Tim Andrassy started 26 of the 50 games he played in his career and logged 2,264 minutes of playing time. He dished out out three assists in his career. Josh Cochran started 52 of the 74 games he played and logged 5,714 minutes of playing time. He scored 19 goals and had 12 assists for 50 points. Ben Gradert started 51 of the 63 games he played and logged 5,053 minutes of playing time. He scored five goals for ten points. Ricardo Infantozzi started ten of the 25 games he played and logged 674 minutes of playing time. He dished out four assists for four points. Blake Troiani started 26 of the 42 games he played and logged 1,305 minutes of playing time. He had two assists and scored one goal for four points. Jerry Williams started 43 of the 59 games he played and logged 4,236 minutes of playing time. He scored three goals and had one assist for nine points.
