Bantams Down Scots

WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Trinity in non-conference action and committed 29 fouls in its 81-70 loss.

The Bantams (7-1) started the game with an 11-7 run for an early four-point lead. The Fighting Scots (2-6) closed out the first quarter with a 9-5 run to tie the game at 16-16. They outscored Trinity 13-4 in the first six minutes of the second quarter to take a nine-point lead. The Bantams closed out the quarter with an 11-9 run to make it a 38-31 game and cut the deficit to seven points at halftime.

Meghan Foley scored 17 points and grabbed five rebounds in the first half. Sarah Gibbs scored nine points, pulled in six rebounds, and dished out three assists. Abby Vampatella scored eight points and blocked one shot.

In the second half, Gordon stretched the lead out to 15 with a 9-1 run in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter. Trinity cut the lead to three points by the end of the quarter with a 21-9 run. They regained the lead with a three-pointer with 8:37 remaining in the game. The Fighting Scots responded with a three-pointer by Vampatella with 7:22 left in the game to regain the lead. The Bantams outscored Gordon 23-11 the rest of the way to seal the win.

Foley finished with a career-best 29 points on a career-best 12 made shots. She also pulled in eight rebounds, and recorded two steals. Vampatella also scored a career-high 14 points and grabbed one rebound. Olivia Stark scored 12 points and dished out five assists while Gibbs finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals.

The Fighting Scots next travel to take on Brandeis in non-conference play Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.
