Diplomats Offer No Asylum for Scots' Streak, 7-3

WINTER HAVEN, Fla.—Franklin & Marshall held Gordon Baseball to just five hits in a 7-3 win to end the Fighting Scots' break on a three-game losing streak. Mike Androconis struckout 13 Gordon batters en route to the Diplomat's seven consecutive win in Florida. Gordon ends its adventure at 3-6.

Franklin & Marshall score the first run of the game in the top of the second with an RBI double by Zach Roberson (Gladwyne, Pa.). The Diplomats added three more in the third off an error and a double for Chris Vincent (Montclair, N.J.) to quickly put the Scots in a 4-0 hole.

Gordon got a run back with an RBI double for Christian Hodge (Waltham, Mass.) in the fourth. However, Gordon's offense came alive too late in the game as it had in the doubleheader against Bowdoin on Thursday.

The Diplomats tacked on three runs on a string of hits in the sixth inning to make it a 7-1 game before John Lagerfeldt (Stratford, Conn.) came up with a two-RBI single in the bottom half of the eight to make it a closer game.

The Fighting Scots struck out a season-high 17 times compared to just five for the Diplomats. Androconis went seven strong innings to earn his third win, only allowing two hits and a run on Hodge's fourth-inning double.

Morgan Hyde (Thomson, Ga.) was tagged for his first loss after four innings and three earned runs allowed.

Five different Gordon players earned a hit in the game, but Dean Demers' (Sandy Hook, Conn.) 10-game hit streak came to an end.

Depending on weather, Gordon will hope to get things turned around on Monday when they head to WPI for a 3:30 start.
