Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Colonels Best Scots in CCC Action

MILTON, Mass.—Curry ran past Gordon in the Commonwealth Coast Conference opener for both squads, 15-8. After a quiet first quarter, Curry scored seven times in the second and the Fighting Scots were never able to fight their way back into the contest.

Gordon drops its second consecutive game for the first time this spring and sits at 3-4 entering a matchup with CCC favorite Western New England. The Colonels get above the .500 mark at 4-3, but more importantly took a step forward in the win column in league play.

The Scots got on the board first with an unassisted goal from Nick Palandjian (Belmont, Mass.) and the 1-0 score held until Curry evened the game with two minutes remaining in the period.

Curry took the Scots by surprise by continuing a four-goal run into the second quarter, scoring three times in the first seven minutes of the stanza. Gordon was able to counter with a 2-1 run of its own with goals from Nico-Manganiello (Peabody, Mass.) and Palandjian.

However, Curry really broke the game open with three goal in the final two minutes before halftime to take an 8-3 advantage.

Things only got sweeter for the home side to start the second half. Curry scored four consecutive goals more to make it a 12-3 game before Gordon was able to answer.

The Fighting Scots outscored their opponents the rest of the way, but it wasn't enough to climb out of the deep hole.

Curry's success in the face-off circle proved to be huge with them holding a 23-3 lead in the category. Gordon outshot the Colonels, but only 15 of 33 attempts went on frame compared to 25 for the home team.

Palandjian had half of Gordon's goals in the game. Curry's Jake Stebbins paced a spread attack with a hat-trick.
