WENHAM, Mass.—A high-scoring second quarter lifted Endicott to a 15-4 win over Gordon Men's Lacrosse in the regular season finale for both squads. Endicott completed a perfect trip through the Commonwealth Coast Conference with an 8-0 mark and clinched the top seed. Gordon fell to 1-7 in the CCC and finish the season at 5-10.
The Gulls were the only team to score in the opening quarter as a possession-heavy game mixed in with a little patience led to four goals. Will Clark (Burn Hills, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the third minute before the team's leading scorer Will Jennings (Danvers, Mass.) put his stamp on the game with his 52nd goal of the season in the sixth minute. Jennings finished the day with five goals to lead all players.
Four of Jennings' goals came in the second quarter as Endicott built up a 12-0 lead with just over a minute to go before halftime.
Thor Rasmussen (Fairfax, Va.) ended the drought for the Fighting Scots with a goal just three second before the halftime buzzer to make it a 12-1 game at the break.
Clark completed a hat-trick to start the third for the Gulls, but Gordon rattled off three goals in a row to get the gap under double-digits.
However, Endicott finished off the Scots with the only two scores over the final 15 minutes.
The Gulls held a 23-21 advantage in shots on goal, but 17 of Gordon's attempts on target were stopped by a trio of keepers. Gordon's duo shared eight saves.
Endicott's Grant Thompson (South Hamilton, Mass.) earned the win in net, his eighth of the year, had eight saves while playing the first half. Jay Gallipo (Dover, N.H.) sank just below .500 for the season with five saves in a whole half of action.
Tommy Hughes (Coram, N.Y.) was outstanding at the X for Endicott with 13 ground balls and 15 wins in 17 tries. Endicott took 20 of 23 face-offs.
The Gulls will await the winner of No. 6 Nichols and No. 3 UNE next week.
