WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon forced 63 errors in its 3-2 win against Simmons.
The Sharks (4-4) won the first two sets 27-25 and 25-12. The Fighting Scots rallied back and won the next two sets 25-21 and 25-23 to force a fifth set.
In the fifth set, Gordon gained an early 4-2 lead. Simmons went on a 9-3 run to take a 11-7 lead. The Fighting Scots scored four straight points to tie the game at 11. The teams traded points back and forth until they were tied again at 13-13. Gordon scored the next two points to seal the win.
Jamie Tafoya led the team with 13 kills and also had four digs and three aces.
Amanda Snyder had a double-double with 14 digs and 11 kills.
Ashlyn Gergins tallied 31 assists and eight digs.
Jenny Curtiss led the team with 24 kills and also had four assists.
The Fighting Scots next host Curry in their CCC opener Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
