Foley Leads Scots to Comeback OT Win Over Leopards

WENHAM, Mass. — Meghan Foley scored 24 points in the second half and overtime as Gordon overcame a 13-point second half deficit to take down Wentworth 74-68 in Commonwealth Conference play at the Bennett Center to sweep the season series.

The Fighting Scots (8-12, 6-8 CCC) started the game with a 12-5 run for a seven-point lead. The Leopards (2-18, 1-12 CCC) cut the lead down to one point by the end of the first quarter with a 6-0 run. Gordon regained the lead and built their lead back up to four points before Wentworth outscored them 18-7 the rest of the second quarter to make it a 32-25 game at halftime.

Brooke Dyson scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds in the first half. Foley scored six points and pulled in five rebounds. Sarah Gibbs scored four points and pulled in five rebounds.

The Leopards started the third quarter with a 20-14 run to build their lead up to 13 points. Gordon regained the lead with a 17-3 run with 5:22 left in the fourth quarter. The teams traded the lead back and forth for the next couple of minutes. A jumper by Haley Sabino put Wentworth up 60-59 with 1:26 left. A foul by Dyson sent Sabino to the foul line with 35 seconds left. Sabino missed both free throws to keep the game at 60-59. Gibbs was fouled with 18 seconds left and made her first free throw to tie the game at 60-60 and send the game to overtime.

In overtime, Foley made a three-pointer on Gordon's first possession. Dyson stretched the lead to four points by making one of her two free throws with 3:56 left. The Leopards scored three straight points to cut the deficit to one point. The Fighting Scots closed out the game by outscoring them 10-4 the rest of the way to seal the win. Foley outscored Wentworth 9-8 in the overtime period.

Foley finished with a career-high 31 points. She also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out two assists. She scored a combined 60 points and pulled in a combined 21 rebounds in Gordon's two games against Wentworth this season. Dyson finished with her first career double-double as she scored 12 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Gibbs pulled in 14 rebounds and scored 11 points for her seventh double-double of the season.

The Fighting Scots next host Western New England in CCC action Feb. 3 at 1 p.m. The Golden Bears won the first game of the season series 69-63 at home.
