Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lacroix Nets Two As Scots Cruise Past Bison, 4-0

With playoffs getting ever closer, Gordon Women's Soccer continued to build its postseason case today with a 4-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) win over the visiting Bison of Nichols College to improve to 4-2 in league play, 9-6 overall.

Midfielder Devin Lacroix was on fire for the Scots, converting two of her three shots on the day to pace Gordon's offensive effort, while Asha Steele continued her tear with a single tally and Casey Miller added her first of the season to round out the scoring. Keeper Giselle Maso needed just one save in nearly 70 minutes of work to record the win for the surging Scots.

Lacroix wasted little time putting Gordon on the board as she collected a corner kick feed from Steele at the edge of the box and fired a shot to the opposite side netting just two minutes in to give the Scots the early lead. Twelve minutes later, Lacroix settled a pass from fellow midfielder Ashton Barkey roughly 20 yards out and hit a nearly identical shot to her first to extend Gordon's advantage to 2-0.

With the Scots' staunch back line doing its job to keep Nichols' attack quiet throughout the remainder of the first and into the second, Steele stepped up for her turn in the 52nd minute to finish a Lexi Potter assist and give Gordon a comfortable three-goal lead. Miller added one more for good measure just a minute and half later, hitting a tough angle shot from the endline to the far post to secure the victory for the host Scots.

Olivia Marcantonio (Fr./North Smithfield, R.I.) recorded an impressive 11 saves for the Bison, who continue to search for their first conference win of the year at 0-7.

The Scots look to continue their hot streak in CCC action as they travel to take on Salve Regina University on Saturday, October 20 at 3 p.m. Nichols hosts non-conference Plymouth State on the same day at 2:30 p.m.
