David Massillon was just shy of a double-double with 23 points and eight boards, and
Parker Omslaer chipped in a solid 12 points and six rebounds.
For the visitors, Brian Hogan-Gary (Jr./Staten Island, N.Y.) led all scorers on the day with 32 points to go with seven rebounds in a full 40 minutes of action, Donovian Maxfield (So./York, Pa.) booked 22 points, and Bryan Davis (Fr./Miramar, Fla.) had a monster day on the boards with 15.
The Scots look to keep their streak going as they travel to face former conference foe Eastern Nazarene College on Wednesday, December 12 at 7 p.m. JWU will welcome Nichols College on Tuesday, December 11 for a 7:30 p.m. start.
How It Happened:
- After JWU opened the game with a three, Omslaer and Duvivier dominated the paint to build a six-point lead for the Scots in the opening six minutes of action.
- Though the Wildcats chipped away offensively to keep the game close, a Demers jumper at the 14:14 mark set in motion his scoring for the day as he netted 24 of his 28 total points in the first half to stretch the Scots' lead to as many as 25 before they headed into the locker room with a comfortable 56-33 advantage.
- With JWU putting a shadow on Demers for the rest of the game, Massillon and Duvivier stepped up to fill the gap with 14 and nine points, respectively, in a combined 24 minutes of action.
- Despite a hefty lead, Hogan-Gary had comeback plans in mind, going on an offensive tear for 25 points in the second to steadily chip away at Gordon's lead and bring his Wildcats to within eight points in the waning minutes. In the end, though, time ran out on the comeback effort and the Scots successfully defended their home court for the eight-point win.
Beyond the Box Score:
- Brian Hogan-Gary's 32 points was a season-high for the junior guard.
- David Massillon scored a career-high 23 points which is the most by a freshman since the 2015-16 season.
- Said Head Coach Tod Murphy: "It was good to beat a good team. Although we didn't show the killer instinct that I would have preferred, we still beat a solid, athletic team. It's never easy to play three games in a week, so to beat WNE, Colby, and JWU in five days is a very good week for Gordon Men's Basketball. I'm very proud of our guys."
