No. 3 Gulls Take Down No. 2 Scots in CCC Semifinals

WENHAM, Mass. — No. 2 seed Gordon hosted No. 3 seed Endicott in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Semifinals at the Bennett Center and grabbed 39 rebounds in its 86-70 loss.  

The Gulls (19-8) started the game with a 20-14 run for a six-point lead in the first eight minutes of action. The Fighting Scots (18-9) tied the game with a 10-4 run with 5:31 left in the first half. Endicott closed the half with a 13-9 run to make it a 37-33 game at halftime.

Garrisson Duvivier scored ten points, grabbed seven rebounds, and blocked two shots in the first half. Jake Haar scored nine points and shot 3-for-5 from the three-point line. Jaren Yang scored six points, dished out four assists, and pulled in four rebounds.

Gordon started the second half with a 13-8 run to regain the lead. The Gulls stretched the lead out to six points with 13:00 left in the second half. The Fighting Scots cut the deficit down to two points to make it a 56-54 game with 10:45 left. Endicott responded by scoring nine straight points in 1:45 to stretch the lead back out to ten points. Matt Valles cut the lead back to eight with a layup on the Fighting Scots next possession. Matt McDevitt made three consecutive three-pointers to make it 73-56 with 6:58 remaining. Duvivier cut the lead down to 14 points with a free throw and a layup. Endicott closed out the game with a 13-11 run to seal the win and to punch their ticket to the CCC Tournament Championship where they will take on No. 1 seed Nichols.

Duvivier finished with his 19th double-double of the season as he scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Eric Demers scored 14 points and dished out two assists. Yang led the team with seven assists and also scored 11 points, pulled in seven rebounds, and recorded two steals.

Demers is now 21st in school history with 1,056 career points. He scored a career-high 631 points this season, which is only 22 points behind the school record for points scored in a season held by Steve Heintz from the 1984-85 season.  

Yang finished the season with a career-high 114 assists and 23 steals.
