ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Gordon traveled to take on Muhlenberg in its first game during spring break and attempted 28 shots in its 19-8 loss.
The Mules (5-0) scored twice in the first two minutes to take a 2-0 lead. Nick Palandijian tied the game with two goals for the Fighting Scots (2-2) in the 4
th and fifth minute. The teams traded goals again as Muhlenberg scored twice in the next two minutes and
Nico Manganiello and
Jason Dantona scored in the ninth and 12
th minute to tie the game at 4-4. The Mules responded by scoring four straight goals in the next six minutes to build a four-goal lead. Palandijian scored again in the 20
th minute for his ninth goal of the season. Muhlenberg added four more goals in the second quarter to take a 12-5 lead into halftime.
The Mules started the second half with two goals in the first eight minutes to build their lead up to nine goals. Palandijian scored in the 35
th minute to cut the deficit to eight goals. Muhlenberg scored two more goals in the third quarter to take a 16-6 lead into the fourth quarter. They sealed the victory by outscoring Gordon 3-2 in the final quarter.
Palandijian finished with a career-high five goals and also grabbed one ground ball.
Nico Manganiello scored two goals and handed out one assist to go along with two ground balls. Dantona scored one goal on five shots.
Jay Gallipo recorded nine saves and faced 52 shots.
The Fighting Scots next play Lebanon Valley College March 13 at 4 p.m. in their second and final game of their spring break trip.
