CLERMONT, Fla. — Gordon played SUNY Geneseo and UMass Boston on the second day of the PFX Games and batted .224 in its 12-3 and 3-2 losses at Hancock Park.
In the first game, the Knights (3-0) struck first with four runs in the top of the second inning. The Fighting Scots (0-4) scored in the bottom of the second as
Rose Shannon and
Karissa Hatchell executed a double steal to cut the lead to three runs.
Lily Rivera hit her first career home run in the bottom of the third to make it a 4-2 game. SUNY Geneseo added two runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth to stretch the lead five runs.
Megan Jenkerson hit an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning to drive in
Emily Kline and make it a 7-3 game. The Knights sealed the win by scoring five runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Hatchell went 2-for-4 with one run and a triple. Rivera batted 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run.
Kristen Brown started the game and struck out one batter in 3.1 innings.
In the second game, the Beacons (1-2) scored first in the bottom of the first with an RBI single by Tori Dicenso.
Sarah Ryder gave Gordon a 2-1 lead with a two-run home run for her first of the season in the top of the second. Both teams combined to leave seven runners on base in the next four innings. In the bottom of the sixth, Kelly Danahy hit a two-RBI single to left field to give UMass Boston a 3-2 lead going into the final inning. The Fighting Scots went three up and three down in the top of the seventh to close out the game.
Ryder batted 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run.
Arianna Ramsaran and
Kristen Brown went 1-for-3.
Jasmine Mullally started the game, pitched six innings, and struck out a career-high four batters.
Gordon next plays Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham and Westfield State tomorrow March 12 at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
