CLERMONT, Fla. — Gordon played Marian (Wis.) and Smith in their seventh and eighth games of the PFX Games and batted .316 in its 6-4 and 7-2 wins at Hancock Park.
In the first game, the Fighting Scots (2-6) scored four runs in the top of the first inning as
Arianna Ramsaran hit a three-RBI triple and
Emily Kline hit an RBI-double to put them up 4-0. The Cougars (6-5) scored a run in the bottom of the first with an RBI double by Gianna Eposito to cut the lead to three runs. They added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 4-3 game.
Kali Denty hit an RBI double to drive in
Megan Jenkerson in the top of the fifth to make it a two-run game.
Sarah Ryder hit an RBI single in the top of the seventh to score
Caitlin Catalanotto to stretch the lead to three runs. Eposito hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to make it a 6-4 game with two outs. The next Marian batter grounded out to seal the win for Gordon.
Ramsaran batted 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one run. Ryder went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Catalanotto batted 2-for-4 with two runs.
Jasmine Mullally picked up her first career win as she pitched a complete game and struck out two batters.
In the second game, Catalanotto hit an RBI single to drive in Jenkerson in the bottom of the first. The Pioneers (1-7) scored one run in the second and one run in the third to take a 2-1 lead. The Fighting Scots added four more runs in the top of the fifth off RBI singles by Ramsaran and
Lily Rivera along with a three-RBI double by Ryder. Ramsaran hit an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to score Denty to stretch the lead to five runs. Gordon sealed the win by forcing Smith to leave six runners on base the last four innings of the game.
Jenkerson batted 3-for-4 with two runs. Ramsaran went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run. Ryder batted 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a walk.
Catalanotto pitched a complete game and struck out four batters.
The Fighting Scots next play Suffolk and UW-River Falls tomorrow March 15 at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Â
