Scots Split Games With Rams and Falcons

CLERMONT, Fla. — Gordon played Suffolk and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on its second to last day at the PFX Games at Legends Way Park and lost to Suffolk 4-2 and defeated UW-River Falls 7-6.

In the first game, the Fighting Scots (3-7) scored one run in the bottom of the first inning as Caitlin Catalanotto hit an RBI single that scored Megan Jenkerson. Neither team was able to do much offensively for the next four innings as they combined for four hits and left eight runners on base. The Rams (5-4) took a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth with back-to-back singles that drove in three baserunners. Arianna Ramsaran cut the lead to one run in the bottom of the sixth with a groundout that drove in Emily Kline. Gordon loaded the bases with two outs, but were unable to drive in any more runs. Suffolk stretched the lead to two runs in the top of the seventh with an RBI single by Delaney Sylvester and made it a 4-2 game. In the bottom of the seventh, all three batters for the Fighting Scots struck out to seal the win for the Rams.

Jenkerson went 1-for-4 with one run. Catalanotto batted 1-for-4 with one RBI. Kline had a triple in her one at-bat and scored one run.

Jasmine Mullally pitched a complete game and struck out two batters in 117 pitches.

In the second game, Gordon took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first with a three-run home run by Ramsaran. They added another run in the top of the fourth as Kristen Brown scored off a steal by Karissa Hatchell.
The Falcons (9-2) cut the lead to three runs with a RBI single by Lexi Dupee in the bottom of the fourth. The Fighting Scots scored three runs in the top of the fifth off a two-RBI double by Rivera and an RBI single by Brown to make it a 7-1 game. UW-River Falls made a big comeback in the bottom of the seventh by scoring five runs to cut the deficit to one run. Brown forced a fly out and a ground out to seal the win.

Brown batted 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run. Ryder went 2-for-4 with one run. Ramsaran batted 1-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs, one walk, and one home run.

Catalanotto started the game, pitched 6.1 innings, and had one strikeout. Brown picked up her first career save by pitching 0.2 innings and forcing a ground out along with a fly out.

Gordon wraps up their Florida trip with games against Clarkson and UMass Dartmouth tomorrow March 16 at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at Legends Way Park.
