QUINCY, Mass. — Gordon went on the road to play Eastern Nazarene in Commonwealth Coast Conference play and combined for 11 hits in its 6-4 and 8-0 losses.
In game one, the Lions (17-5, 8-0) struck first with a three-run home run by Kori Bow in the bottom of the first inning. They added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth with a two-RBI double by Lauren Weidler and a solo home run by Lauren Clements to take a 5-0 lead. The Fighting Scots (6-17, 2-8 CCC) rallied in the top of the seventh as
Megan Jenkerson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and
Sarah Ryder scored. Then
Emily Kline hit a three-RBI double to make it a 6-4 game with one out. Eastern Nazarene forced a fly out on the next at-bat and struck out the next batter to seal the win.
Kline batted 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a walk.
Karissa Hatchell went 1-for-2 with one run. Ryder batted 1-for-3 with one run.
In game two, Bow hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first to give the Lions a 1-0 led. They added seven runs in the bottom of the second to take an eight run lead. They held Gordon to one hit and zero runs in the next three innings to clinch the win. The Fighting Scots stranded five runners on base in the game.
Gordon next hosts Wentworth in CCC action April 13 at 3 p.m.
