MIDDLETOWN, R.I. — Gordon went on the road to play Salve Regina in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Gaudet Field and grabbed 20 ground balls in its 14-12 loss.
The Seahawks (10-4, 4-2 CCC) started the game with five straight goals in the first eight minutes of action. The Fighting Scots (5-8, 1-5 CCC) responded by scoring three goals in a row by
Tytus Moen,
Jason Dantona, and
Nick Palandjian. Zach Makoske scored with 1:17 left in the first quarter to put Salve Regina up 6-3. Gordon outscored the Seahawks 5-3 in the second quarter to make it a 9-8 Salve Regina lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Seahawks scored two straight goals to take an 11-8 lead in the 37
th minute.
Xander Miller and Moen scored goals in the next six minutes to make it an 11-10 game entering the fourth quarter. The teams traded goals twice in the first ten minutes of the fourth quarter to give Salve Regina a 13-11 lead with 6:52. Dantona scored in 55
th minute to make it a one-goal game with 5:31 left. The Seahawks scored a goal with 1:01 left and held the Fighting Scots to two shots in the last five minutes to seal the win.
Palandjian and Dantona both scored three goals. Moen and Miller both scored two goals and combined for four caused turnovers.
Jay Gallipo recorded ten saves and faced 37 shots.
