MILTON, Mass. — Gordon traveled to play Curry in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at D. Forbes Will Field and split the doubleheader with a 4-0 win and 4-0 loss.
In game one, the Fighting Scots (9-20, 5-11 CCC) scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning with a ground out by
Arianna Ramsaran that scored
Lily Rivera and a single by
Caitlin Catalanotto that drove in
Karissa Hatchell. They added two more runs in the top of the seventh with a two-run home run by Ramsaran. The Colonels (10-20, 5-11 CCC) recorded eight hits in the game, but stranded ten runners on base with seven in scoring position.
Ramsaran went 1-for-4 with three RBIs and one run. Rivera batted 2-for-4 with one run. Hatchell went 1-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base.
Caitlin Catalanotto pitched a complete game and struck out four batters.
In game two, Curry got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the first with one run scoring off Kevi Oatway being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Kiana Lloyd grounded out to score Jocelyn Dimond. Madeline Critch hit an RBI double to right field to drive in Taylor Newcomb in the bottom of the second to stretch the lead to three runs. In the bottom of the fourth, Newcomb hit an RBI single to centerfield to score Michaela Colleran to make it a 4-0 game. The Colonels held Gordon to four hits and forced them to leave five runners on base in the last four innings to seal the win.
Sarah Ryder batted 2-for-3 while Rivera batted 2-for-4.
The Fighting Scots next go on the road to take on the University of New England in CCC action tomorrow April 21 at 12 p.m.
