Seahawks Fly Past Scots in CCC Quarterfinals

NEWPORT, R.I. — No. 5 seed Gordon traveled to take on No. 4 seed Salve Regina in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament Quarterfinals at Gaudet Field and went 10-for-10 in clears in its 22-9 loss.

The Seahawks (7-9) started the game with four goals in the first four minutes of play. The Fighting Scots (7-11) responded with two goals by Katelyn Dyer and a goal by Olivia McCarrick to cut the lead to one goal. Both teams scored in the next minute to make it a 5-4 game. Katie Kline scored twice for Salve Regina in the next six minutes to stretch their lead to 7-4. Hannah Bourk and Olivia McCarrick both scored in the next six minutes of action to cut the lead to one goal. The Seahawks closed out the goal with seven goals in the last 8:05 of the first half to take a 14-6 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Kiley Anderson scored in the 32nd minute to stretch the lead to nine goals. Paige Thompson scored an unassisted goal a minute later to make it a 15-7 game. Salve Regina then scored two goals in the next three minutes to stretch the lead out to ten goals. Lena Larson scored in the 39th minute to cut the lead back down to nine goals. The Seahawks sealed the win by outscoring Gordon 5-1 in the last 21:27 of the game.

McCarrick led the Fighting Scots with three goals and tied for the team lead with five draw controls and four ground balls. Dyer scored two goals, dished out two assists, and recorded five draw controls. Thompson scored two goals and grabbed four ground balls.

Rebecca Resnick and Kaitlyn Ober combined for eight saves and faced 42 shots.

???????McCarrick finished the season with career-highs in goals with 67, assists with 35, points with 102, ground balls with 58, draw controls with 72, and caused turnovers with 30. Her season totals are second in season goals, second in ground balls, tied for second in caused turnovers, third in goals, tied for fifth in assists, and eighth in draw controls in Gordon history. She is also now fifth in school history with 164 goals, sixth in points with 237, and sixth in assists with 73.

Dyer finished the season with 100 draw controls which is second in school history for season draw controls. She also had 34 caused turnovers which is also second in school history for season caused turnovers.
