WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Skidmore in its season opener at the Brigham Athletic Complex and put six of its eight shots on goal in its 3-2 overtime loss.
The Thoroughbreds (1-0) got on the board first in the ninth minute with a goal by Emma Basso off a pass from Yasmine Boukari. The Fighting Scots (0-1) tied the game in the 18
th minute with an unassisted goal by
Lexi Potter. Skidmore kept up the pressure as they put up four shots in the next 20 minutes of play. Boukari scored a goal in the 39
th minute to make it a 2-1 game. The Thoroughbreds almost added another goal at the end of the first half, but Lauren Winkler's shot went high right with one second left on the clock.
Both teams combined for six shots on goal in the first 17 minutes of the second half.
Ashton Barkey scored off a pass from Potter in the 63
rd minute to tie the game at 2-2. Both teams had opportunities the rest of the half to take the lead with a combined seven shots and two being on goal.
In overtime, Skidmore attempted two shots in the first four minutes with Sydney Kellerman's shot in the 92
nd minute being stopped by
Giselle Maso. Boukari sealed the win with the second goal of the game in the 96
th minute.
Maso recorded nine saves and faced 21 shots.
Gordon next hosts Union tomorrow Sept. 1 in non-conference play at 3 p.m.
