Scots Sail By Pilgrims

WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted New England College in non-conference play at the Brigham Athletic Complex and put 15 shots on goal in its 6-1 victory.

The Fighting Scots (2-3) started the game off aggressively on offense as they put four shots on goal in the first six minutes of action. They first got on the board in the 20th minute as Lexi Potter off Emily Rodriguez's first career assist and beat the keeper on the right side. Potter added another goal in the 28th minute that was also assisted by Rodriguez. Gordon held the Pilgrims (2-4) to two shots in the first half to make it a 2-0 game at halftime.

In the second half, the Fighting Scots put the game away by scoring four more goals. Rodriguez scored her first career goal in the 47th minute as she received a pass from Asha Steele on the left side and put it into the upper right corner of the net. New England College almost cut the deficit to two goals in the 49th minute as Bridgette Winters put a shot on goal, but it was saved by Giselle Maso. Potter completed the hat trick in the 61st minute with an unassisted goal to put Gordon up 4-0. Rodriguez scored her second goal of the game in the 62nd minute as she received a pass from Ashton Barkey and her shot beat the keeper on the left side of the net. The Pilgrims scored their only goal of the game in the 75th minute as Michaela Pomeroy put the ball in the upper left corner off a pass from Alexa Zayas. Taemar Shearer scored her first career goal in the 88th minute off a pass from Amber Sharshel.

Maso and Addy Gibney combined for three saves and faced six shots.

Potter recorded her first career hat trick and now has 20 career goals.
