Bison Rumble Past Scots

BEVERLY, Mass. — Gordon traveled to play Nichols in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at Vendetti Field and put four shots on goal in its 2-0 loss.

The Fighting Scots (2-6, 0-2 CCC) had two penalty corners in the first nine minutes both taken by Sabrina Jandreau. That led to a shot by Cara Goudie that went wide of the net in the ninth minute. The Bison (3-1, 1-1 CCC) attempted one of their four shots in the half in the tenth minute as Carlee Tolley's shot went wide of the net. Gordon had two scoring chances in the last five minutes of the half. Brooke Misbach stopped Paige Blake's shot in the 30th minute and Goudie's shot in the 32nd minute to keep the game at 0-0 going into halftime.

In the second half, Nichols got on the board in the 36th minute as Lizz McKinnon scored off a pass from Courteney White. Emma Ellsworth put another shot on goal for the Fighting Scots in the 49th minute that was saved by Misbach to keep the game at 1-0. The Bison put up six shots in a seven-minute span which led to their second goal in the 59th minute as McKinnon scored her second goal of the game. Nichols sealed the win by holding Gordon to one shot the rest of the game.

Julia Altman recorded four saves and faced 13 shots. Briana Kowolenko and Abigail Seay each had a defensive save.

The Fighting Scots next host CCC foe Salve Regina Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. The Seahawks swept the season series last year with a 5-1 win at home and 7-4 win on the road.
