PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Gordon went on the road to take on Johnson & Wales in non-conference play at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex attempted 19 shots in its 3-0 loss.
The Fighting Scots (4-4) started off the game with three shots on goal in the first 15 minutes.
Lexi Potter put two on goal and
Kiersten Klose attempted one on goal that were both saved by Colleen Lynch. The Wildcats (5-5) first got on the board in the 20
th minute as Olivia Cairraro scored off a pass from Jordan Restivo. Cairraro added another goal five minutes later to make it a 2-0 game. Gordon attempted three shots in the next eight minutes with
Addy Lorentsen's shot in the 32
nd minute being stopped by Lynch. They had one more scoring opportunity in the 43
rd minute, but
Kyra Skurcenski's shot went high above the net to keep the game at 2-0 entering halftime.
In the second half, Johnson and Wales added their third goal in the 50
th minute as Restivo scored off a pass from Deja Hursey. The Fighting Scots put plenty of pressure on the defense as they put five of their 11 shots on goal in the half. They had two shots in the 63
rd minute, but Potter's shot went wide of the net and Lorentsen's shot was stopped by Lynch. Gordon put up four shots in the last eight minutes of action, but could not find the back of the net to seal the win for the Wildcats.
Jenny Deckert recorded four saves and faced ten shots.
The Fighting Scots next host Eastern Nazarene in non-conference action Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
