No. 18 Panthers Scratch Scots

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Gordon traveled to play No. 18 Middlebury in its first road game of the season at Dragone Field recorded 17 saves in its 5-1 loss.

The Panthers (1-0) struck first in the third minute as Sabrina Glaser scored off an assist from Caitlin Magruder. Lexi Potter tied the game for the Fighting Scots (1-2) in the 16th minute as she received a pass from Kyra Skurcenski and put it in the net from 16 yards out. Middlebury kept up the pressure on offense the rest of the first half as they attempted 14 shots the rest of the half with five being on goal. They held Gordon without a shot after their goal to make it a 1-1 game at halftime.

In the second half, Sara DiCenso broke the tie in the 50th minute with a goal that was assisted by Simone Ameer. They sealed the win by scoring three more goals in the next 27 minutes and by holding the Fighting Scots to just one shot in the entire second half.

Giselle Maso recorded a career-high 16 saves and faced 35 shots.

Gordon next travels to take on Wheaton in non-conference play Sept. 8 at 1 p.m.
