In a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup today at the Brigham Athletic Complex, Gordon College Women's Soccer blanked the visiting Golden Bears of Western New England, 3-0 to improve to 10-2-3 overall and 3-1 in league play. With the loss, WNE falls to 5-8-2 and 1-2-1 in conference.

How It Happened

• The Fighting Scots held the shot advantage in the first half, taking eight shots to WNE's three. Despite the offensive focus, the Scots were not able to sneak one by WNE keeper Shannon Murphy (So./Halifax, Mass.) who made four saves in the first.
• The 0-0 score heading into the second half did not last long as Gordon's Devin Lacroix crossed up her defender before feeding Lexi Potter towards the goal. In stride, Potter tucked one past a diving Murphy to put the Scots up 1-0.
• In the 73rd minute, Calla Ashley sent in a corner kick that found the head of Potter to extend the Scots' lead to two goals.
• Giving the Scots some extra cushion to their lead, Lacroix booted a ball from 30 yards out into the upper netting, just beyond the reach of Murphy to solidify the 3-0 win.

• Lexi Potter booked her first two-goal game of the season today.
• This marks the first game of the year that Devin Lacroix had both a goal and an assist.
• The Scots are back in action on Wednesday, October 16 as they travel to Bridgewater State for a 3:30 p.m. start.
