Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Engineers Calculate 4-2 Win Over The Scots

Traveling to Cambridge, Massachusetts this evening for a non-conference contest against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Engineers, Gordon College Men's Soccer was defeated by their hosts, 4-2. With the loss, the Fighting Scots drop to 4-8-1 overall this season. The Engineers improve to 7-1-5 overall after the win.

How It Happened
  • In the ninth minute of action, the Engineers' Garrett Gordon (So./The Woodlands, Texas) headed a corner kick into the net, giving his squad an early 1-0 lead.
  • However, the Fighting Scots answered back two minutes later as Julius Swaim booted a pass to teammate Nate Boyer who rocketed a shot into the back left corner of the net to tie it at 1-1.
  • MIT went back on top thanks to another header in the 14th minute. The Fighting Scots knotted it back up again six minutes later as Ben Mollenhauer assisted classmate Julius Swaim for the Scots' second goal of the game.
  • The Engineers tacked on two more goals before the end of the half to take the 4-2 lead. Despite both teams taking six shots each in the second half, neither team was able to add another goal as the score held at 4-2 in favor of MIT.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Nate Boyer booked his first goal of the season tonight.
  • Ben Mollenahuer has gotten an assist in three of his last four games.
