In a non-conference contest this morning against Mills College from California, Gordon College Women's Tennis blanked their visitors, 9-0 to improve to 8-6 on the season.
The Fighting Scots only dropped two games in doubles as No. 3
Anna Mullane and
Meli Markarian topped Cesaria Caetano and Grace Hirschfield, 8-0; No. 2
Emily Ontiveros and
Abigail Graves bested Garcia Zuniga and Rebekah Raymon, 8-0 before
Anne Carsey and
Madison West made it a clean sweep in the No. 1 slot with an 8-2 victory over Grace Deaton and Dana Culpepper.
Already leading 3-0 heading into singles, Mullane kept the wins coming as the sophomore won the first singles match against Raymon, 6-0, 6-0, putting the Scots just one win away from clinching the match. Markarian answered the call as the freshman got the 6-0, 6-0 win over Hirschfield in the No. 6 position to seal the deal for the blue and white.
The Scots return to the courts on Tuesday, October 22 as they travel to Dudley, Massachusetts for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinal matchup against Nichols College at 2 p.m.
