Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Salve’s Offense Takes Flight In 6-1 W Over Scots

In a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup today at a rainy Brigham Athletic Complex, Gordon College Field Hockey dropped a 6-1 decision to the visiting Seahawks of Salve Regina to fall to 4-6 (1-3 CCC) on the year. With the win Salve improves to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in conference action.

How It Happened
  • After having four shots saved by Gordon net-minder Julia Altman, Salve Regina's leading goal scorer Eliza TimmsĀ (So./Agawam, Mass.)Ā tapped in a feed from teammate Ashley Cody (Sr./Pawling, N.Y.)Ā with just 28 seconds left in the first quarterĀ to put the visitors on top, 1-0.
  • In the 24th minute, Emma Ellsworth intercepted a Salve pass in front of the goal and immediately tucked in a shot into the lower right corner of the net to tie the game at one-all.
  • Timms added another tally for her squad just over two minutes later to take a one-goal lead heading into the half.
  • Coming out strong offensively after the break, the Seahawks tacked on two more goals within a two minute span to take a three-score lead. The SeahawksĀ thenĀ added two more in the fourth quarter to secure the 6-1 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Fighting Scots return to action on Saturday, October 5 for a Homecoming matchup against the University of New England at 11 a.m.
  • Emma Ellsworth's goal gives her two for the season which is a career-high for the senior.
