Traveling to Salem, Massachusetts to take on the Vikings of Salem State, Gordon College Women's Basketball orchestrated a thrilling second half comeback to come away with the 79-68 victory over its North Shore rival. With the win, the Fighting Scots improve to 3-0 on the year while the Vikings drop to 1-2.
For the Fighting Scots,
Meghan Foley exploded for a game-high 34 points while grabbing 14 boards,
Sarah Gibbs brought down 18 rebounds and had 13 points, whileÂ
Serianna Anderson had 12 points and five rebounds.
Salem's efforts were paced by Courtney Paschal (Sr./Waltham, Mass.) who had 17 points, Liz Zaiter (Fr./Peabody, Mass.) booked 13 points, and Tatianna Lacoviello (So./Revere, Mass.) had 11 points and dished out eight assists.Â
How It Happened
- The Vikings held the slight 17-13 to close out the first, highlighted by a pair of three's from Lacoviello.Â
- The Scots trailed by as many as ten with 7:40 remaining in the second quarter before cutting the deficit to three thanks to a Foley jumper with just under five minutes on the clock. However, the Vikings outscored the Scots 17-7 to take a 42-29 lead into the break.
- Foley came out of the locker room on fire, erupting for 14 of her squad's 28 third quarter points. Despite, trailing by 13 midway through the third, the Scots buckled down to tie it up at 57-all heading into the final frame.
- Gordon took its first lead of the game thanks to a Delaney McDonnell jumper to put the blue and white up 61-60. The Vikings regained the lead a minute later but their lead was short lived as Foley scored 15Â of the Scots' next 18 points to secure the come from behind victory.

- Serianna Anderson booked a career-high 12 points.
- Sarah Gibbs has now recorded a double-double in each of the Scots' three games this year.Â
- Meghan Foley has scored 30 or more points in back-to-back games.
- Said Head Coach Carter Shaw: "We dug a bit of a hole in the first half but I was happy with how we regrouped at halftime. In the second half our defensive concentration and effort improved a lot. That change of focus was key to getting back into the game and making up ground to tie it in the third. Down the stretch Meghan Foley just took over the game and made baskets."
