Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 2 Gulls Too Much For Scots In CCC Quarters

Gordon College Men's Soccer concluded its 2019 season with a 4-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Quarterfinal loss at the hands of No. 2-seeded Endicott College Gulls at Hempstead Stadium in Beverly, Massachusetts this afternoon. The Fighting Scots finish at 5-11-2, while the Gulls advance to the CCC Semifinals boasting a record of 11-5-2.

How It Happened
  • Ryan Modzeleski looked to put the Scots up early, firing off a pair of shots from outside the 18 which had promise but sailed just high over the crossbar.
  • Gordon's defense was locked in, knocking away a handful of key opportunities for the Gulls. However, Endicott's Evan Couchot (Sr./Mason, Ohio) was able to finally get one past Gordon keeper Wesley Sprague in the 22nd minute with a low ball into the left side netting to put the Gulls up by one.
  • Couchot nearly tacked on another for his squad at the 27:07 mark, but a diving Sprague kept the Gulls' lead to one. Endicott's offense continued to put pressure on the Fighting Scots, but the blue and white kept their hosts at bay to keep it 1-0 going into halftime.
  • Looking to tie it up coming out of the break, the Scots' offense earned a corner kick that was nearly headed in by Travis Singh to tie it up but his header went just north of the crossbar to keep it a one-score game.
  • After that close call, the Gulls regrouped, and later extended their lead to 2-0 in the 66th minute before tacking one two more goals in the half to secure the 4-0 victory.
