Bears Snag 66-59 Win Over Scots

In a home non-conference matchup this evening against the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) Bears, Gordon College Women's Basketball's high-scoring fourth quarter wasn't enough as the Bears bested the Fighting Scots, 66-59.

For the Scots, Meghan Foley had 23 points, Sarah Gibbs grabbed 20 boards and had 13 points, and Serianna Anderson netted 14 points.

Annabella Farabaugh (Jr./Atlanta, Ga.) led the way for the Bears with 21 points, while Emma Puddington (So./Castorland, N.Y.) and Jacqueline Ward (Fr./Brant Beach, N.J.) each booked 12 points.

How It Happened
  • USCGA jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the first before Foley stopped the bleeding with a jumper to put the Scots on the board. Anderson followed with a three-pointer before Foley tied it up at 7-7 with just over four minutes remaining in the first. The Bears closed out the frame with a trio of layups to grab the 13-7 lead heading into the second.
  • The visitors extended their lead in the second, outscoring the Scots 20-14 to lead by 12 points (33-21) heading into the break.
  • Anderson and Foley combined for 11 of Gordon's 15 points in the third, but the Bears still led by 11 with one quarter remaining.
  • Three minutes into the fourth, the Scots found their shots outscoring the visitors 8-1 run to cut the lead to four. However, four points was as close as the Scots would get as the Bears held on for the victory.
