Scots Handle Curry In CCC Opener Win

Gordon College Men's Basketball opened up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on the road this afternoon defeating the Curry College Colonels by a score of 98-76. With the win, the Fighting Scots improve to 5-2 and 1-0 in league play while the Colonels fall to 3-5 and 0-2 in CCC action.

Eric Demers booked a game-high 28 points, Parker Omslaer recorded 23 points and 16 rebounds, Aljernod Terry had 13 points and 15 rebounds, while Garrett Sattazahn added 13 points in the win.

For the Colonels, Daymeann Stewart (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) netted 27 points, Jared Thorpe-Johnson (Sr./Dorchester, Mass.) had 18 points, and Kieran Carroll (Sr./Greenwich, Conn.) tossed in 10 points in the effort.

How It Happened
  • A Carroll jumper gave the Colonels a 10-5 lead five minutes into the contest but Gordon quickly took control as well as the taking the lead just two minutes later and never looked back.
  • Omslaer was in the zone in the first, going seven of eight from the field and four of five from the charity stripe en route to an 18-point first half for the junior.
  • With 7:54 left until the break, the Scots outscored the Colonels 29-9 to take a 49-26 lead heading into halftime.
  • Less than five minutes into the second, Sattazahn hit a three to put the Scots up by 26 for their largest lead of the game.
  • RJ Hadfield connected on a pair of three-pointers to cut the deficit to 12 late in the second half but the Scots' offense was too hot as Gordon took home the 98-76 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Scots' win today over Curry makes it 13 straight wins for the Scots in head-to-head matchups with the Colonels.
  • Parker Omslaer booked a career-high in points with 23 points and tied a career-high in rebounds with 16.
  • Said Head Coach Tod Murphy: "We played very well the first half, but unfortunately we weren't able to put them away. We are a good team right now, but in order to make the jump to being able to compete with the top teams in the conference, we must maintain our effort, our focus, and our competitiveness for 40 minutes. I was very pleased with how Parker and AJ controlled the paint tonight. A road win in conference is always a good thing."
