Garrisson Duvivier booked another double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds,
Noah Szilagyi netted 17 and dished out four assists, and
Parker Omslaer nearly got a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Wentworth's Kyle Henseler (So./Coventry, R.I.) led the charge for the black and yellow with 24 points, while Stephen Azums (Jr./Hyde Park, Mass.) netted 16 points and grabbed half as many rebounds with eight, while Matt Vartanian (Jr./Salem, N.H.) added 12 points and eight points in the effort.
How It Happened
- There were eight lead changes in the first seven minutes of the game, with both teams going shot for shot in a back and forth contest to begin an exciting matchup.
- The Scots then grabbed hold of the slim lead until Wentworth's Tyler Lennon (So./Atkinson, N.H.) hit a three to give his squad the 27-26 lead. That lead was squashed thirty seconds late as Jake "Ice Man" Haar answered back with a three of his own to regain the lead for Gordon. Haar drained a three with 2:48 on the clock forcing Wentworth to call a timeout trying to disrupt the Scots' offense who had their largest lead of the game, 42-33.
- Shots from downtown seemed to be contagious as Henseler silenced the crowd with a three with four ticks left in the half to bring his team within three going into the break.
- Eight straight points from Duvivier and Demers gave the Scots a nine point edge to start the second. Vartanian grabbed his own rebound on the offensive end putting back a layup to crawl within four with 15:27 left. After a Josh Crutchfield three, the Scots kept a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game, leading by as many as 16 down the stretch thanks to an Omslaer dunk from Duvivier with 1:26 remaining. Demers hit both foul shots with under a minute remaining to give the Scots a 17-point margin of victory to advance.
Beyond The Box Score
- Eric Demers broke the 30-point threshold for the seventh time in the last 13 games.
- Garrisson Duvivier booked his 20th double-double of the year.
- Said Head Coach Tod Murphy: "This game was Gordon Basketball. We were sharing the ball and getting everyone involved, and when we do that, we are very hard to guard. To score 94 points against Wentworth's defense is a remarkable offensive showing. I'm very happy for our guys, and I think they felt good about their performance tonight."
