In a neutral site Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Final contest this evening, Gordon College Men's Basketball came up short against the No. 1 seeded Bison of Nichols College, 90-105. The Fighting Scots conclude their season with a 23-4 record.
For the blue and white,
Garrisson Duvivier had a team-high 26 points and swatted away three shots,
Eric Demers netted 24 points, and
David Massillon added 10 points and eight rebounds.
The Bison's victory was guided by DeAnte Bruton (Jr./New London, Conn.) and Marcos Echevarria (Sr./Lynn. Mass.) who had 32 and 31 points, respectively, while Matt Morrow (So./Leicester, Mass.) put up 16 points and 12 boards.
How It Happened
- Bruton and Echevarria had identical numbers in the first half, scoring 14 points each and shooting 50 percent from behind the arc. Trailing by as many as 15 with 2:11 left in the first, Gordon scored six straight points to close out the half, to cut the defect to 39-48.
- Duvivier and Demers hit back-to-back three-pointers to climb within three just over a minute into the second frame. The Bison went on a 15-4 run to retake a comfortable 65-51 lead with 14:55 remaining in regulation.
- Jake Haar hit a fast break three at the 10 minute mark to bring his team within seven. However, the Bison wouldn't let the Scots inch any closer, leading by as many as 18 down the stretch to claim CCC Championship.
