In their last contest of the week, Gordon College Women's Tennis battled but took their first loss of spring break falling to LeTourneau University, 5-4, this afternoon at Palmetto Dunes in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
The Yellow Jackets took victories in No.1 and No. 2 spots winning both by a tally of 8-2 while Gordon's Jordyn Maddex and Madison West picked up an 8-4 victory in No. 3 doubles.
Coming into singles, leading 2-1, LeTourneau's top three players earned consecutive victories with Maddie Brackenreg (Jr./Melbourne, Australia) sealing the deal for the Yellow Jackets in the No. 2 position. Despite the match being clinched, the Fighting Scots matched LeTourneau as each squad won three single matchups. Maddex continued the victories for Gordon by winning in a tiebreaker to best opponent, Lauren Rockwell (Sr./Tatum, Texas), while
Anna Mullane and West cruised to 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1 wins, respectively.
The Fighting Scots will support the men's team Thursday, March 13 for their final spring break contest and will get back on the court Saturday, March 30 at noon against Salem State.
