Box Score Taking on Lake Forest College today at Hilton Head's Shipyard Athletic Club, Gordon College Men's Tennis battled but was eventually felled by the Foresters, 6-3, in the final match of spring break competition for both teams.
The Fighting Scots return home to open their domestic schedule on March 21 as they play host to non-conference Johnson & Wales at 7 p.m. at the Manchester Athletic Club.
Riding a two-match win streak, Lake Forest returns to the court on March 22 on the road at Aurora University, 5 p.m.
How It Happened
- After finding themselves at an early deficit with a default at No. 3 doubles and an 8-4 loss at the hands of LFC's Chase Garber (Jr./Highland Park, Ill.) and Aiden Burke (So./Arlington Heights, Ill.) at No. 2, the Scots' Nathan Lookwhy and Jonathan Frink claimed an 8-5 victory at No. 1 to keep the match close heading into singles action.
- With another Scots default at No. 6 widening the gap in favor of the Foresters, Gordon senior Kristopher Marineau cruised to a comfortable 6-1, 6-3 win over LFC's Joe Bove (Sr./Castle Rock, Colo.) at No. 3 to keep the Scots in contention.
- But after Gordon ceded defeat at Nos. 5 and 4, a 6-4, 2-6, 12-10 win from junior Frink at No. 2 proved too late for Gordon's comeback hopes.
Beyond the Box Score
- Following their match with Johnson & Wales on March 21, the Scots will host non-conference Eastern Nazarene College on March 27 before opening Commonwealth Coast Conference play on March 30 against host Salve Regina University.
